Britten
The Turn of The Screw
Britten’s adaptation of Henry James’ ghostly tale. Set in a remote Victorian estate, The Turn of the Screw explores themes of innocence and corruption through the eyes of a naïve young governess. One of Britten’s most remarkable and beaufiful scores, the haunting, evocative music reflects the growing tension in the isolated household. Director Helen Eastman and designer Michael Vale brilliantly recreate the gothic atmosphere and teasing ambiguity of opera’s greatest ghost story. Celso Antunes conducts and singers include Virginia Kerr, Sylvia O’Brien, Chris Steele, Catherine Hegarty and Rebekah Coffey.
