A young man has come to Dublin in search of love, he meets a pretty girl and after a few drinks he sees her home in the rain. They shelter for a time under an umbrella up a lane- and then it all happens.

John McGahern's Ireland is dramatised in anew opera by Kevin O'Connell and James Conway.Based on three of his most celebrated stories.My Love , My Umbrella is a bittersweet chronicle of love and time. Opera Theatre Company's direct,unassuming productions have been touring all parts of Ireland for over ten years ;recently the company has given acclaimed performances in New York, Paris , London, and Lisbon. As special commision for the the Year of Opera and Music Theatre, My Love ,My Umbrella began it's tour in the eastern region of England before a national tour in Ireland
